Travels with Goyo 
I live in Las Vegas and they just opened up a seafood city here. they have all ot these stores, except Max. It’s a lot closer than Ranch 99 in Chinatown. More spaces in the aisles, too. My only complaint: it takes forever for fish to be cleaned and fried. My advice: go early or once you’re inside, pick out the fish to be cleaned, and then go buy the rest of your groceries.
ChowKing prices are way too expensive (if you’re calculating in pesos). You’ll find out when you’re back in Pinas and see the pesos prices there. But then, they pay their employees here in dollars, not in pesos, right? Oh well.

I’m impressed of the huge selections of filipino food there. Mrs. Goyo, do you make escabeche? It’s a fried whole fish with red bell pepper, carrots, ginger & sweet & sour sauce. Yummy! San Mig, I like it cooold! 🙂

I so envy you Goyo. You have a good selection of Filipino food and restaurants that you can go to. I’m pretty sure the prices are more expensive than in the Philippines but, I guess, that is the price you have to pay for having a slice of the Philippines in the US.
I miss Jollibee and Red Ribbon!

Goyo, you’re lucky you have all those Pinoy restaurants and superstores in CA. I remember going into SFC in San Diego a few years ago. Here in Vancouver, we have much smaller stores – many are of the “sari-sari” variety. Although, Asian food stores like T&T have a Pinoy aisle. As for restaurants, we don’t have “Jollibee” or “ChowKing” (we should), but we have “Cucina Manila”, “Josephine’s”, and some other smaller Mom and Pop operations.

Awesome! Went to the Philippines with my Dad, my first trip ever to the homeland, being born and bred in the States. I LOVED it, and can’t wait to go back.

hi goyo! i got here through keith’s (leap of faith). this entry almost made me faint…in envy! you have all these to enjoy?! not fair! my family has been living in texas for a year now. and we don’t have any of these goodies except for 3 canteen-type filipino stores, which don’t really float my boat. hee hee. man, i could use some red ribbons products (mamon please!) and hot crispy chicken joy right now. *sigh*

i was able to go into the seafood city in las vegas last december. haay, kakainggit! i have to make do with the teeny-weeny filipino stores here in soflo. you’re so lucky to have those! 🙂

It looks like we are lucky here compared to other parts of the US but there is a reason for this. A lot of Pinoy here! 🙂 Especially in the San Francisco Bay Area. We will have a big pista coming here the 2nd Sunday of June. It is held every year at Jose Rizal Park here in Sacramento. I’ll take lots of fotos so you can see the mga (many) Pinoy and Pinay that live in this area.

Sacramento is like being in the Philippines! All those shops…nothing like that in small ol’ Christchurch, NZ!

Hello Goyo, your wife is very lucky being there in USA, here in europe we don’t have so much that stuff, kalami ana uy. BTW I got married too in october 1989…I love that personalised plate number!
